The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.
The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.
A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing
The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Coach Effectiveness Learning course. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.
This course teaches coaching as a discipline, in the order the craft itself demands: the relationship first, then the conversation. Module 1, The Coaching Relationship: Agreements, Presence, and Listening (Concepts 1–9), builds the ground — coaching is not advice, the agreement comes before the coaching, honest practice and the edge of therapy are working skills, and presence, trust and safety, listening at depth, your own inner noise, and the client's agenda are what make everything after it possible.
Module 2, The Coaching Conversation: Questions, Awareness, and Action (Concepts 10–18), runs the conversation on that ground — the shape of a session, powerful questions and the questions that miss, evoking awareness, naming what you notice, turning insight into client-designed action, accountability without policing, the whole engagement from beginning to ending, and the hard moments where structure is actually tested.
A powerful question asked inside a relationship without an agreement, without safety, and without listening is a technique fired from an empty holster; this course builds the holster first. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free — and in this course speaking is not decoration, because coaching is a spoken craft.
The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.
This course teaches the competency areas the ICF describes publicly, in Cognosco's own words. It is not an ICF-accredited or ICF-approved program, and completing it carries no credential credit toward any ICF credential. What it offers is the craft itself, taught well — the agreements, presence, listening, questions, and structure a client actually experiences in the room.

Prove
Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.
Capstone
Finish with two capstones — The Foundation for Module 1 and The Whole Engagement for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.
