The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.
The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.
A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing
The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Trainer Effectiveness course, in the Leadership & Management category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.
A great trainer creates experiences that change behavior, and this course works in the order that work actually happens: design first, then delivery — the course's spine. Module 1, “Design: Sessions Built to Change Behavior” (Concepts 1–9), starts before anyone enters the room: design learning sessions grounded in adult learning principles, and structure content for maximum retention, so the session is built to change behavior, not just to cover material.
Module 2, “Delivery: Facilitating the Room” (Concepts 10–18), takes that design into the room: facilitate group discussions that keep participants engaged and challenged, handle difficult participants, manage energy in the room, and adapt on the fly when things do not go as planned.
You finish by proving both halves — in The Session, Designed and in The Hard Room. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free. The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.
First, adult learning here is taught as sound general principles — no percentages, no studies, no named theorists. The familiar retention-percentage chart is named in this course as folklore with no valid source: do not build a session on it, and do not repeat its numbers as if they were evidence.
Second, this is the craft of teaching and facilitating groups — teaching a room of participants, by design — not a coaching course: it is not one-to-one coaching of a client, and a learner who wants coaching belongs in a coaching course.
Third, the order is the point: design first, then delivery. A session that was never designed to change behavior cannot be saved by energetic delivery, and this course teaches the design before it teaches the room.
