Management Strategies for Administrative Professionals
Signature Course No. 19 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.
A New Kind of Learning
Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.
Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.
The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.
The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.
A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing
The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Management Strategies for Administrative Professionals course, in the Business Development category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.
This is the course for professionals who lead without line authority — executive assistants, office managers, and administrative support staff whose power comes through competence, clarity, timing, and trust, not through a title or a team that reports to them. The course works in the order that work actually happens at the desk: prioritize competing demands from multiple stakeholders, communicate assertively with managers and executives, coordinate project work with confidence, and position yourself as a strategic contributor rather than a support function. Project work here is taught at the coordinator's scale — pieces, people, dates, follow-through — the work of keeping a project moving when you own the coordination but not the team. You finish by proving the whole course — in The Week That Broke and in The Personal Development Plan. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free. The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.
The fences, stated plainly. First, this course is for leading without line authority: power through competence, clarity, timing, and trust — not through command, and not by borrowing someone else's authority. Second, project work is taught at the coordinator's scale — pieces, people, dates, follow-through. The full project-management method — scope, timelines, resources, and risk run as a discipline — belongs to Signature Course No. 9, Project Management; this course points there rather than pretending coordination is the whole method. Third, assertiveness here is taught as professional clarity, never manipulation — no manipulation techniques, no office-politics games: say what you need, plainly and in time, and let clarity do the work. Fourth, confidentiality is professional ethics, in the desk standard: what you hear at the desk stays at the desk. The desk sees and hears what the office does not say out loud, and holding that trust is part of the job, not an extra.
This is the nineteenth course in The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person training Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

Map First → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone
Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.
Map First
The Coach starts by finding out what you already know and how you actually run the desk today. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.
Learn & Practice
Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.
Prove
Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.
Capstone
Finish with two capstones — The Week That Broke for Module 1 and The Personal Development Plan for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.

Built for individuals and teams
Management Strategies for Administrative Professionals is for executive assistants, office managers, and administrative support staff — professionals who lead without line authority and whose results depend on competence, clarity, timing, and trust: prioritize and manage competing demands effectively, communicate assertively with managers and executives, develop project coordination and organizational skills, and position yourself as a strategic contributor.
