Cognosco Learning (“Cognosco,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit cognoscolearning.com (the “Site”), read our Insights library, purchase or register for courses, use the Lighthouse Coach, request a sample access key, or inquire about a corporate license (collectively, the “Services”).

1. Information We Collect

(a) Information you provide to us.

  • Purchase and registration information. When you purchase a course or register for a session, we collect your name, email address, organization (if provided), the course(s) purchased, seat counts, and any information you provide in registration or inquiry forms.
  • Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not collect or store your full payment card number. Stripe provides us with limited transaction information (such as payment confirmation, amount, and the last four digits of a card) and, for corporate-license inquiries submitted through the Site, stores inquiry records as customer records in our Stripe account, as described below.
  • Inquiries and license proposals. If you submit our “Request a License Proposal” form or otherwise contact us about a Corporate License, we collect the contact and company information you submit. These inquiries are stored as customer records in our Stripe account, tagged to identify them as corporate-license inquiries.
  • Sample-key requests. If you request a sample access key for the Lighthouse Coach, we collect the contact information you submit with the request so we can evaluate it and, if approved, deliver the key.
  • Coach Input. When you use the Lighthouse Coach, we receive the prompts, responses, and answers you enter during your sessions (your “Input”).
  • Communications. If you contact us by email (our addresses are routed through the ImprovMX forwarding service to our Gmail mailbox) or by other means, we collect the contents of your messages and your contact details.

(b) Information collected automatically.

  • Learner progress. The Coach maintains a learner record of your progress — concepts completed, assessment and test-out results, mastery status, and completion records, including certificates issued. This record is stored in your own web browser’s local storage on your device; we do not maintain it in a hosted account on our servers, and clearing your browser storage deletes the local record.
  • Voice Coach. If you use the Coach’s voice features, the Coach’s spoken replies are produced by transmitting the Coach’s reply text to our voice provider, ElevenLabs, which returns synthesized audio for playback in your browser. We do not send your voice to ElevenLabs. If you choose to dictate your answers instead of typing, dictation is processed by your browser’s built-in speech-recognition service; we do not receive or store recordings of your voice.
  • Usage and device data. The Site does not use third-party analytics services, advertising trackers, or marketing cookies. Our hosting provider maintains standard server logs (such as IP addresses, browser type, and request timestamps) for security and operational purposes. The Site and the Coach use your browser’s local storage for functional purposes — keeping your learner record, your voice choice, and your access state on your device.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to: provide, operate, and secure the Services; process purchases, registrations, and payments through Stripe; deliver course access, including Access Keys, and maintain learner records and certificates; respond to inquiries, sample-key requests, and license-proposal requests; administer Corporate Licenses, including Authorized User rosters; improve our courses, Content, and the Coach (using Input and Feedback in accordance with our Terms); detect, prevent, and address misuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. How We Share Information

We share information only as follows:

  • Service providers. With vendors that perform services on our behalf, under obligations to use the information only for those services — principally: Stripe (payment processing and inquiry/customer records), Vercel (website and application hosting), ImprovMX (email forwarding), Google (Gmail mailbox), Anthropic (the artificial intelligence model provider for the Coach — your Input is transmitted to Anthropic to generate the Coach’s responses), and ElevenLabs (synthesis of the Coach’s spoken replies from the Coach’s reply text).
  • Your organization. If your access is provided under a Corporate License, we may share your enrollment, progress, and completion information with the purchasing organization, consistent with the license.
  • Legal and safety. Where required by law, court order, or governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, enforce our Terms, or protect the safety of any person.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a sale, merger, or transfer of all or substantially all of our business or assets, subject to confidentiality protections.

4. Artificial Intelligence Processing

The Lighthouse Coach uses artificial intelligence models provided by Anthropic (the Claude family of models) to generate tutoring responses (Output) from your Input. Do not submit confidential information of your employer or any third party, or personal information of others, as Input. We do not use your Input to train our own or any third-party foundation models, and Anthropic does not use Input submitted through its commercial API to train its models.

5. Retention

We retain purchase, registration, and inquiry records for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain business and tax records, and comply with legal obligations. Learner records are stored in your own browser’s local storage and remain on your device until you clear your browser storage; we do not keep a server-side copy, and certificates are issued based on the learner record in your browser. Sample-key requests, whether or not approved, are retained as customer records in our Stripe account so that we can track and respond to requests.

6. Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the information we hold, including access controls on our payment, hosting, and email accounts. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and to ask questions about this Policy, at hello@cognoscolearning.com. Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights under applicable state privacy law. We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law.

8. Children

The Services are intended for adult professional learners and are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

The Site may link to third-party websites or services (including Stripe checkout pages). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for them.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on the Site with a revised “Last updated” date, and we encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
