AI for Project Managers

Signature Course No. 253 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.

No experience needed — your coach starts where you are.

An agentic, mastery-based AI learning platform.

A New Kind of Learning

Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.

Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.

The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.

The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.

Meet The Lighthouse Coach

A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing

The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's AI for Project Managers course, in the AI at Work category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.

A project manager's day is mostly text — and a fluent, confident, wrong paragraph can do real damage. A status report that softens a delay until it becomes a surprise, a risk log padded with plausible risks nobody owns, an estimate with a machine's false precision printed on it, a commitment you never made, written in your voice, sent to a client. This course teaches you to use AI across that whole day while keeping your name — and your judgment — on everything the project sends.

Module 1 builds your own desk habits. Brief AI the way you would brief a capable person — task, material, constraints, shape, and the check you will run; feed it the record, not your memory, fenced and checked for currency, completeness, provenance, and legibility; hold the line between draft and decision; and verify everything checkable — dates, figures, names, commitments — item by item against the source. Then the core artifacts: status without spin, risk logs where the machine proposes candidates and you supply the judgment, meeting records sorted into decisions, actions, and discussion, and draft plans whose logic and durations stay human. The module closes with the confidentiality line: what never goes into a tool at all.

Module 2 turns outward, where the stakes rise. Stakeholder updates that change words and never facts; estimates AI must not own; change and claims paper where a sentence becomes a position; procurement communication that may compare and may not prefer; the public correction when an AI error gets out anyway; the AI features inside the tools your project already runs; and finally how you set, coach, and audit AI practice for a whole team — ending with the personal standard you hold when no rule covers the case in front of you.

Both capstones produce real artifacts — the AI desk pack: a brief template, a source checklist, a verification pass, and the first real products made under all three; and the team AI playbook — the approved uses, review levels, and audit routine for a real project team — written for your own project and ready to use on Monday.

The honesty standard is part of the course. This course promises no time saving, no success rate, and no project outcome. Its working rule is enforced on every page: AI drafts, the project manager decides; AI proposes, the project manager verifies; AI rewords, the project manager owns every word that leaves. The running case — Petra Lindholm of Halloway Construction Group and the Fenwick Public Library Expansion, $18,400,000 over 64 weeks — carries both capstones end to end.

The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.

AI for Project Managers is part of The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person learning Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

The Method

Diagnose → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.

1

Diagnose

Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand — what you already do with AI, and where the common trap is waiting for you. Your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the desk discipline everything else stands on.

2

Learn & Practice

Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.

3

Prove

Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.

4

Capstone

Finish with two capstones — The AI Desk Pack for Module 1 and The Team AI Playbook for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.

The Course Content

What You'll Learn

Discipline first, scale second. Before AI can be trusted across a team, it has to be disciplined at one desk — yours. The brief, the source, the draft–decision line, and the verification pass come before any artifact is touched.

Module 1 builds the desk. The five-part brief; source before summary; draft, don't delegate; verify the checkable; status without spin; risk logs; meeting records sorted three ways; draft plans with human sequence; and what never goes in.

Module 2 takes it into the open. One truth in many rooms; estimates AI must not own; change and claims paper; fair procurement paper; the public correction; the AI inside your existing tools; the team's rules; coaching and audit; and the project manager's own standard for uncovered ground.

And it holds its boundary throughout. This course teaches the AI layer inside a project manager's workflow — not project management method, which belongs to the neighbouring courses. Every figure in the running case is a stipulated teaching figure, stated once and used consistently, and every calculation is shown with its working.

What you will learn

  • Run your own AI desk work under discipline: brief it, feed it the right source, keep decisions yours, and verify everything checkable
  • Use AI on the core project artifacts — status, risk logs, meeting actions, and draft plans — without letting it spin, pad, or decide
  • Use AI outward, where the stakes rise: stakeholder updates, estimates, change and claims paperwork, and procurement communication
  • Set AI practice for a whole team: the rules, the coaching, the audit, and the standard that holds when an error gets out anyway

Who It's For

Built for the people whose words projects act on

Project managers and project leads — in any sector, who already use, or are about to be given, AI tools, and who remain accountable for what their projects report and promise; and programme and delivery managers who set working practice for several project managers and need a standard their teams can actually follow.

Project coordinators and project support staff — who produce much of the project's text — minutes, logs, trackers, updates — and whose drafts carry other people's names.

Anyone whose status report, risk log, or forecast is read by people who act on it — sponsors, clients, boards — and who cannot afford a fluent error in it. This course assumes you manage, or help manage, real projects, and that you know, or are learning elsewhere, the method underneath them. It assumes no technical background: every term is defined where it is first used.

Good Questions

Before you enroll

What is a Socratic coaching session?

A conversation, not a video. Your coach asks a question; you answer — out loud by voice, or by typing — and the coach responds to what you said: naming the misconception it hears, affirming what you got right, and asking the next question. You advance only when you have mastered each concept, so a finished course means the learning held.

How long does it take — and how long do I have?

About 30 minutes per concept. Learn in sittings of any length; your progress is saved as you go. You have a full year from purchase to finish, and you can revisit and retake within that year.

What does the certificate verify?

That you completed every concept and both capstones of this course. Anyone can confirm a Cognosco certificate online — enter its certificate ID on our verification page.

What if it isn't for me — what are the refunds?

If you have not started, cancel for a full refund within seven days of purchase. Once you have started, there is no cash refund — stop before finishing and we credit the full amount you paid toward any other course in the library (credit valid one year from your original purchase). Once you complete the course, no refund or credit applies.
