AI for Teachers & Classroom Educators
Signature Course No. 254 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.
No experience needed — your coach starts where you are.
A New Kind of Learning
Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.
Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.
The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.
The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.
A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing
The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's AI for Teachers & Classroom Educators course, in the AI at Work category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.
A planning desk is where the tools actually enter a teacher's life. Not in a policy meeting, but at night, with a lesson to plan for the morning. That moment decides everything: if the goal is clear, the context is safe, and the output is treated as a draft, the tool is a useful junior assistant — fast, tireless, and frequently wrong in ways you know how to catch. If the goal is vague, the context is a student's real record pasted in haste, and the output is copied because the hour is late, the same tool publishes errors, exposes children, and hollows out your judgment one shortcut at a time.
You learn the desk discipline first. Start from the learning goal, not the tool; prompt with classroom context while protecting student data; treat every output as a draft under your judgment, checked by the four-pass read; differentiate from one strong core lesson instead of planning three separate evenings; make materials accessible from the start; and account honestly for what the drafting saves and what the checking costs.
It works in two movements. First, Module 1 — From Your Planning Desk: Drafts You Control — work through Concepts 1–9, finishing with The Planned Fortnight; then, Module 2 — Into the Classroom and the Department: Norms You Can Defend — work through Concepts 10–18, finishing with The Honest Classroom System.
Both capstones produce real artifacts — a two-week lesson and materials pack, planned under the full desk discipline and auditable by a colleague; and a Classroom AI and Assessment Charter with its feedback-and-marking routine, built for a whole term and ready for week one.
Three lines bind every page of the course. Student data never enters a tool unprotected. AI is never the grader of record — every mark that carries your name is read by you, decided by you, and defensible by you. And student-facing AI use is taught, with rules you set and state. A fourth honesty runs underneath: no workload miracle is promised — drafting saves real minutes, checking costs real minutes, and the course counts both.
The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.
AI for Teachers & Classroom Educators is part of The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person learning Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.
Diagnose
The Coach starts where the course starts: with the goal. Before any tool is opened, write the goal sentence — verb, content, evidence — and the success look you will judge every draft against. Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand, and your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.
Learn & Practice
Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.
Prove
Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.
Capstone
Finish with two capstones — The Planned Fortnight for Module 1 and The Honest Classroom System for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.
What You'll Learn
Goal first, judgment always. An output is only worth what the discipline around it is worth — so the goal, the safe brief, and the four-pass judgment come before any material reaches a student.
Module 1 builds the desk discipline. The goal sentence and the success look; the five-part brief; the draft held at draft status; one core lesson levelled and made accessible; the verification routine; the week planned as a sequence with retrieval placed; and the honest time ledger.
Module 2 builds the public standard. Feedback a student can act on; grading help divided at the accountability line so the mark stays yours; honesty categories taught out loud and tasks designed so honest work shows; the rules carried home to families; tools vetted against school policy; mistakes, bias, and unequal access handled fairly; and a department practice that holds one standard in every room.
And it holds its lines throughout. Student data stays protected, the grader of record stays the teacher, and student AI use stays taught and stated — in a single classroom, across a department, and at every kitchen table where homework is done.
What you will learn
- Plan with AI from the learning goal: frame requests with classroom context, protect student data, and keep every output in draft status until you have judged it
- Build one core lesson into differentiated, accessible materials for the whole class without planning the same evening three times
- Verify everything that reaches students, plan sequences across the week, and account honestly for the time AI drafting saves and the time it costs
- Give feedback students can act on, and use grading help for sorting and drafting while every mark remains your own decision
- Teach students to use AI honestly under rules you set and state, design tasks where honest work shows, and communicate those rules to families and colleagues
- Choose and vet tools against school policy, handle AI mistakes, bias, and unequal access fairly, and build a consistent department practice with a sustainable personal standard

Built for the teachers whose judgment students trust
Classroom teachers in primary and secondary schools — who plan, teach, give feedback, and award marks, and who want AI drafting help inside clear professional lines; and heads of department and year-level leads who still teach a class and need a practice they can model before they ask colleagues to follow it.
Early-career teachers building a planning and marking routine from scratch, who want the routine to be sound before habits harden; and experienced teachers skeptical of the tools — or burned by a bad output — who want a checking discipline rather than enthusiasm.
Teachers responsible for a class where students already use AI for homework, whether permitted or not, who need rules that work in practice rather than a ban no one can enforce honestly. The course assumes you are a qualified or practising classroom teacher responsible for real students, and no technical background at all.

Before you enroll
What is a Socratic coaching session?
A conversation, not a video. Your coach asks a question; you answer — out loud by voice, or by typing — and the coach responds to what you said: naming the misconception it hears, affirming what you got right, and asking the next question. You advance only when you have mastered each concept, so a finished course means the learning held.
How long does it take — and how long do I have?
About 30 minutes per concept. Learn in sittings of any length; your progress is saved as you go. You have a full year from purchase to finish, and you can revisit and retake within that year.
What does the certificate verify?
That you completed every concept and both capstones of this course. Anyone can confirm a Cognosco certificate online — enter its certificate ID on our verification page.
What if it isn't for me — what are the refunds?
If you have not started, cancel for a full refund within seven days of purchase. Once you have started, there is no cash refund — stop before finishing and we credit the full amount you paid toward any other course in the library (credit valid one year from your original purchase). Once you complete the course, no refund or credit applies.
