AI for Your Job Search
Signature Course No. 252 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.
No experience needed — your coach starts where you are.
A New Kind of Learning
Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.
Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.
The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.
The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.
A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing
The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's AI for Your Job Search course, in the AI at Work category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.
Your applications now meet a machine before they meet a person. Screening software parses, searches, and ranks what you send before human eyes ever see it — and a tool that can draft anything can also draft claims you cannot defend, in a voice that is not yours. This course teaches you to work both sides of that shape: materials a machine can read, built only from what is true, and a search run as a system instead of a scramble.
It starts with the truth file. One verified record of your working life — roles, dates, duties, measured results, tools with depth, and the edges, including the list headed things I have not done — built before AI touches anything. Every later draft draws from it under a grounded brief, every tailored resume is selection, order, and translation of that one fixed record, and every application passes a line-by-line audit before it leaves your hands. If a line is not in the truth file, or cannot be traced to it, the line does not ship.
It works in two movements. First, Module 1 — True Materials: What the Machines Read First — work through Concepts 1–9, finishing with The Verified Application Pack; then, Module 2 — The System in the Market: Run the Search, Meet the People, Close Honestly — work through Concepts 10–18, finishing with The Search, Run as a System.
Both capstones produce real artifacts — a verified application pack for one live posting that passes the parser because it is built to be read and survives the person because every line is true at its stated size; and your search system document: the tracker, the scoring rule, the practice routine, and the review habit, running on your own real search.
The honesty standard is part of the course. This course makes no job-placement promise and no salary promise — hiring depends on the market, the employer, the other candidates, and timing, none of which a course controls. What it promises is narrower and real: a search run as a system, applications built to pass machine screening because they are true enough to be read by people, and interview practice that makes your real answers sharper. The AI does the volume; you own the truth, the aim, and the performance.
The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.
AI for Your Job Search is part of The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person learning Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

Diagnose → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone
Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.
Diagnose
The Coach starts where the course starts: with your record. Before any drafting, settle what you can prove — the strongest number on your resume and its source, where your documents disagree with each other, and the first entries on your list of things you have not done. Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand, and your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.
Learn & Practice
Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.
Prove
Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.
Capstone
Finish with two capstones — The Verified Application Pack for Module 1 and The Search, Run as a System for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.
What You'll Learn
Truth before volume. Every acceleration in this course stands on material verified before the AI touched it, and every output is audited before a human relies on it. The truth file comes first, the audit comes last, and the drafting in between is never trusted on its own tone.
Module 1 builds the materials. The truth file; how screening systems parse, match, and gate; the grounded brief; tailoring by selection, order, and translation; the line audit; letters in your own voice; the evidence bank; a consistent public profile; and the weekly rhythm that keeps it all alive.
Module 2 builds the system. Tracking, finding by rule, and scoring fit before the hour is spent; outreach that is personal because it is specific; spoken interview practice with a coach set to challenge; preparation for one employer on verified facts only; follow-up on time; offers evaluated whole; and the weekly review that makes each week teach the next.
And it holds its boundary throughout. The job search itself — resume craft fundamentals, interview answering method, offer discussion method — is taught in its own neighboring course. This course is the AI layer the search now runs on: what the tool changes about the work, and what you must therefore do differently.
What you will learn
- Build true, machine-readable materials: a verified truth file, resumes that pass AI screening, audited claims, cover letters and answers in your own voice, an evidence bank, and a consistent public profile
- Run the search as a system: find and score postings, track the pipeline, follow up on time, and spend your limited hours where the fit is real
- Use AI to meet people well: outreach that is specific rather than mass-produced, interview practice with an AI coach, and preparation for a specific employer built on verified facts
- Close honestly: evaluate offers and replies with clear arithmetic, learn from every rejection, and keep the AI inside its proper place — volume work, never authorship of your life

Built for seekers whose paperwork tells the truth
Active job seekers — employed and searching quietly, or between roles and searching full-time — who are sending applications and hearing too little back; and career movers aiming at a role adjacent to the one they hold, whose real experience needs translating into a new posting's language without being inflated.
Returners re-entering after caring responsibilities, illness, study, or a career break, whose history is real but does not fit a tidy template; and graduates and early-career seekers with thin but genuine material that needs selecting and stating well rather than padding.
Anyone already using AI in a search and slightly uneasy about it — pasting drafts they have not checked, applying at a volume they cannot track, unsure which lines they could defend in a room. This course assumes you have a work history to work with, however short, broken, or hard to describe, and access to a general-purpose AI assistant.

Before you enroll
What is a Socratic coaching session?
A conversation, not a video. Your coach asks a question; you answer — out loud by voice, or by typing — and the coach responds to what you said: naming the misconception it hears, affirming what you got right, and asking the next question. You advance only when you have mastered each concept, so a finished course means the learning held.
How long does it take — and how long do I have?
About 30 minutes per concept. Learn in sittings of any length; your progress is saved as you go. You have a full year from purchase to finish, and you can revisit and retake within that year.
What does the certificate verify?
That you completed every concept and both capstones of this course. Anyone can confirm a Cognosco certificate online — enter its certificate ID on our verification page.
What if it isn't for me — what are the refunds?
If you have not started, cancel for a full refund within seven days of purchase. Once you have started, there is no cash refund — stop before finishing and we credit the full amount you paid toward any other course in the library (credit valid one year from your original purchase). Once you complete the course, no refund or credit applies.
