AI Product Management

Signature Course No. 163 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.

An agentic, mastery-based AI learning platform.

A New Kind of Learning

Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.

Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.

The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.

The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.

Meet The Lighthouse Coach

A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing

The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's AI Product Management course, in the AI at Work category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.

This is the course for product managers who are being handed AI mandates, AI roadmaps, or AI features to own — and for product managers moving into the AI-product role, who need the AI-specific half of the craft: feasibility, data readiness, evaluation, and shipped-model risk.

It is also built for founders and product leads at smaller companies — who are the AI product manager whether the title exists or not, and who must make build, buy, and pricing calls without a specialist team to hide behind — and for operators and consultants who advise companies on AI features.

It works in the order the work itself runs — first, Module 1 — Decide Before You Build — work through Concepts 1–9, finishing with The Decision Package; then, Module 2 — Ship It, Charge for It, Keep It Honest — work through Concepts 10–18, finishing with The Launch-and-Lifecycle Plan.

You work on one company, in full, for the whole course — Dovetail Dispatch, a scheduling and dispatch product for field-service businesses, with its users, its baseline, its pilot results, and its costs stated once, in full. Every feasibility verdict starts from those figures. Every quality bar is set against them. Every price is computed from them.

You finish by proving the whole course — in The Decision Package and in The Launch-and-Lifecycle Plan. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free. Defending a no-go call, presenting a quality bar, and explaining a pricing change are spoken acts, done live — the skill lives in what you can say.

The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.

Both capstones produce real artifacts — a complete go / go-narrowed / no-go decision package a leadership team can argue from, and a launch-and-lifecycle plan that governs a feature from pilot to retirement — written to be usable on the real job, not just in the course.

This is the one hundred and sixty-third course in The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person learning Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

The Method

Diagnose → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.

1

Diagnose

The Coach starts where the course starts: with the decisions that settle a feature's fate before anyone builds it — what was chosen, what was assumed, and what nobody checked. Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand, and your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.

2

Learn & Practice

Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.

3

Prove

Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.

4

Capstone

Finish with two capstones — The Decision Package for Module 1 and The Launch-and-Lifecycle Plan for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.

The Course Content

What You'll Learn

Every software company now faces the same meeting. Someone asks why the product does not have AI in it yet, and the room looks at the product manager. This course teaches that person the full discipline, in the order the work demands it.

First, decide before you build. You will learn how to name the job a feature serves, in the worker's own language, with its baseline measured; how to judge feasibility in its three parts — technical, data, operational; how to audit what the data can actually support; how to test what a model can do instead of quoting claims about it; and how to build the value-and-cost case before anything is promised.

Then set the standard before the argument starts: how to design an evaluation whose quality bar is written down in advance — errors split into kinds, ranked by harm, each with its threshold and its pre-agreed consequence — and how to weigh the risks honestly enough that a go, a narrowed go, or a no are all respectable answers.

Then ship it, charge for it, and keep it honest: how to specify behaviour and design the human's role around the model; how to pilot under guardrails registered in advance and roll out in stages with a working kill switch; how to price a feature whose cost rises with every use; how to measure what the model changes once real users arrive; how to respond when it misbehaves or is quietly changed upstream; and how to iterate, narrow, or retire on the evidence.

What you will learn

  • Decide what AI product or feature to build — starting from the job, not the capability
  • Judge feasibility and data readiness before anything is promised or built
  • Set evaluation standards and quality bars for model behaviour before launch
  • Specify AI behaviour, fallbacks, and the human's role around the model
  • Pilot, launch, and roll out AI features under guardrails you set in advance
  • Price and package AI under its real cost structure
  • Measure, maintain, and — when the evidence says so — retire shipped AI

Who It's For

Built for the person the room looks at

AI Product Management is for product managers who are being handed AI mandates, AI roadmaps, or AI features to own — and for founders and product leads at smaller companies, who are the AI product manager whether the title exists or not.

It is for product managers moving into the AI-product role — who need the AI-specific half of the craft made systematic — and for operators and consultants who advise companies on AI features and need to tell a sound AI product plan from a demonstration with a roadmap attached.

This is an AI at Work course. It assumes no machine-learning engineering background. If you can read a percentage, run a small pilot, and write a clear specification, you have everything this course requires to start.
