Business Etiquette

Signature Course No. 22 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.

An agentic, mastery-based AI learning platform.

A New Kind of Learning

Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.

Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.

The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.

The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.

Meet The Lighthouse Coach

A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing

The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Business Etiquette course, in the Professional Development category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.

This is the course for anyone who is good at the work and has never been shown the room. It works in the order you live an encounter: first, the room you are physically in — arriving ready, introductions run as a hand-off, names remembered and honestly repaired, greetings that follow the other person's lead, meetings handled from door to door, conversation, networking without using people, dress matched to the setting, and the graceful recovery when any of it goes wrong; then, the extended room — the table, the company occasion, the inbox, the group chat, the video square, the public record, and the morning after, when the follow-up either completes the impression or quietly replaces it. You finish by proving the whole course — in The First Visit and in The Client Dinner, and After. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free. The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.

The framing, stated plainly. Etiquette is taught here as geography, not a universal code. The conventions in this course are widely practiced ones — taught as exactly that: widely practiced, not universal, and never a measure of anyone's worth. Norms vary by company, by industry, by generation, and by culture, and the governing skill underneath every rule is reading the room you are actually in and choosing what puts the other people at ease. Cross-cultural specifics are taught only where they are ordinary and uncontested, and no national-character claims are made anywhere in the course. Every scenario in the course is an original invention — no real company, event, or person.

This is the twenty-second course in The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person training Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

The Method

Map First → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.

1

Map First

The Coach starts by finding out what you already know and how you come across in a room today. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.

2

Learn & Practice

Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.

3

Prove

Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.

4

Capstone

Finish with two capstones — The First Visit for Module 1 and The Client Dinner, and After for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.

Who It's For

Built for individuals and teams

Business Etiquette is for early-career professionals who are good at the work and have never been shown the room; people whose work has outgrown their habits — promoted into client-facing, hosting, and representing roles; seasoned professionals who want the polish checked; and anyone who works across rooms that run differently and wants the underlying skill, reading the room, rather than a longer list of rules: navigate business introductions and meetings with confidence, communicate professionally in person and digitally, understand dining etiquette and corporate social norms, and build a strong professional presence.

The framing applies here, too. Etiquette is not stuffiness, and it is not a weapon: the conventions are widely practiced, not universal, and the course teaches the skill underneath them — read the room, match the setting, and when in doubt choose what puts the other people at ease.
