Copywriting That Sells
Signature Course No. 135 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.
A New Kind of Learning
Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.
Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.
The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.
The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.
A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing
The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Copywriting That Sells course, in the Sales, Service & Revenue category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.
This is the course for founders and owners who write their own pages and emails because no one else knows the product as they do, marketers and copywriters whose words other people bet budgets, launches, and reputations on, creators and solo operators who sell one reader at a time, and anyone whose job includes a page, a pitch, or a send.
It works in the order the craft itself runs: first, Module 1 — Start Where the Reader Is — work through Concepts 1–9, finishing with The Page That Earns Its Click; then, Module 2 — Copy in the Wild: Pages, Emails, and the Edit — work through Concepts 10–18, finishing with The Campaign You Can Defend.
You finish by proving the whole course — in The Page That Earns Its Click and in The Campaign You Can Defend. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free. In this course the Voice Coach is not an extra — reading your copy aloud is one of the finishing disciplines the course itself teaches, the pass that hears what the eye forgives.
The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like.
Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.
This course teaches persuasion the product can stand behind. Its house line applies to the copy itself, in every concept, without exception: never promise what the product doesn't deliver. No concept invents a second funnel with friendlier numbers, and no worked example quietly swaps in a different conversion rate because the arithmetic was easier.
A promise is a claim about the future; proof is evidence about the past; integrity is the refusal to let the first outrun the second. Persuasion with integrity is not the tax this craft pays for its conscience.
It is the moat. Write copy you can sign, sign it, and let the standard compound.
Both capstones produce real artifacts — a complete, publishable launch-page copy packet with its promise-delivery audit, and a defensible campaign packet across three surfaces with its integrity audit signed — not just ideas about copywriting.
This is the one hundred and thirty-fifth course in The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person learning Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

Diagnose → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone
Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.
Diagnose
The Coach starts where the course starts: with the reader. Your reader does not care about your product yet — and copy that forgets it is read by no one. Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand, and your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.
Learn & Practice
Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.
Prove
Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.
Capstone
Finish with two capstones — The Page That Earns Its Click for Module 1 and The Campaign You Can Defend for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.
What You'll Learn
Every business speaks to its readers before it ever meets them. The headline on the page, the subject line in the inbox, the first sentence under the product photo — that is the voice a stranger judges, in about the time it takes to decide whether to keep reading or to leave.
This course teaches you to write that voice well: copy that moves a reader to act, taught as a craft with evidence, not as a bag of tricks. You will learn to start where the reader already is — with her problem, in her words — before your product is mentioned at all.
You will learn to make one honest promise and keep it, to write headlines that earn the next line and opening lines that keep the headline's promise, to prefer the concrete word over the clever one, and to build pages and emails on structures that serve the reader instead of formulas that flatter the writer.
You will learn to prove what you claim, to ask for one clear action, and to build the three workplaces where copy actually sells: landing pages, email — single sends and sequences — and sales pages. Then you will learn the disciplines that separate professionals from drafters: answering objections without hype, editing and cutting until only the load-bearing words remain, reading copy aloud until it sounds like a person, and testing copy with a clear head about what a result does and does not prove.
Underneath all of it runs the standard this course will not bend: persuasion with integrity — copy that sells because it is true, clear, and written for the reader it hopes to serve.
What you will learn
- Start every piece of copy with the reader's problem, for one named reader, before the product appears
- State offers and promises honestly — only what the product actually delivers
- Write headlines and opening lines that earn the next line and keep the promise made
- Build copy on structure and flow, using frameworks as scaffolding to outgrow, not spells to recite
- Write in a specific, credible voice — concrete over clever, proof over claims
- Ask for one clear action, and build landing pages, emails, sequences, and sales pages that carry a reader to it
- Edit, read aloud, and test your copy — and state plainly what a test result does and does not prove
Everything in the course
- All 18 concepts of Copywriting That Sells, in 2 modules

Built for the person whose words do the selling
Copywriting That Sells is for founders and owners — who write their own pages and emails because no one else knows the product as they do, marketers and copywriters — inside companies and agencies — whose words other people bet budgets, launches, and reputations on, creators and solo operators — newsletter writers, course builders, shop owners — who sell one reader at a time, and anyone whose job includes a page, a pitch, or a send.
This course teaches persuasion the product can stand behind, and its house line — never promise what the product doesn't deliver — applies to the copy itself, in every concept, without exception. A promise is a claim about the future; proof is evidence about the past; integrity is the refusal to let the first outrun the second.
This course assumes you can write a clear sentence and are willing to revise one. It assumes no marketing degree, no agency experience, and no prior copywriting work. If you can describe your reader's Tuesday morning in plain words, you have everything this course requires to start.
