Culture in Practice: Living the Values
Instructor: Cognosco Learning · Duration: Full Day · In-Person
One-day, in-person course — $595 per person · 3–4 seats save 10% · 5+ seats save 20%

About This Course
Most organizations do not have the culture they describe. They have the culture their decisions describe. The values statement promises candor, and the person who brings bad news early is quietly sidelined. The values statement promises the customer first, and the bonus follows the sale that the customer will regret. The values statement promises teamwork, and the promotion goes, again, to the brilliant individual whose team keeps resigning. Nobody in these stories is lying, exactly. They printed what they hoped. They rewarded what they got. This course teaches the discipline that closes that gap: reading a culture by its evidence — what is rewarded, what is tolerated, what is repeated — translating each stated value into behaviors a person can perform, decision rules a leader can apply under pressure, and allocations of time, money, and attention that prove the value is real, and then holding the standard in the places where it costs something: the hire, the promotion, the high performer, the bad quarter, and the morning after leadership itself has broken it. By the end of this program you will have a written culture standard of your own — not a poster, a practice — and the audit habits that keep it true.
What You'll Learn
- Read the culture you actually have by what is rewarded, tolerated, and repeated — not by what is stated
- Translate each stated value into observable behaviors, decision rules, and allocation choices a team can be held to fairly
- Make hiring, promotion, onboarding, and parting decisions that state the culture in action, without turning values into a loyalty test
- Hold the standard when it costs, repair it honestly after a breach — including your own — and keep it alive in ritual, story, and daily repetition
