About This Course
Most workplace confrontations do not begin with violence. They begin with a person who is frustrated, frightened, disappointed, or overwhelmed, and with a small moment — a raised voice, a demand repeated, a refusal heard as disrespect — in which the temperature of the room rises and nobody in it quite knows how to bring it down. This course teaches the conduct for that moment and the system around it. You will learn to read escalation early, while choices still work: the changes in voice, pace, language, and body that tell you a person is moving from upset to agitated, and the change in your own state that tells you the same about yourself. You will learn the voice and words that lower temperature, the listening that lets a person feel heard without your agreeing to everything they demand, and the discipline of space — where you stand, how you keep an exit open, how you leave a conversation that has stopped being safe. You will learn when conversation ends and withdrawal begins, how to get help early without escalating the room yourself, and how to hand the moment to the people whose job it is to take it from there. By the end, you will have a written prevention standard of your own — the commitments you will live by, in plain language, on an ordinary shift.

- Report warning signs and threats through the proper channel every time, without diagnosing, labeling, or spreading rumor.
