Cryptocurrency & Blockchain: How Digital Money Actually Works
Signature Course No. 301 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.
No experience needed — your coach starts where you are.
A New Kind of Learning
Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.
Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.
The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.
The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.
A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing
The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Cryptocurrency & Blockchain: How Digital Money Actually Works course, in the Sales, Service & Revenue category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.
Cryptocurrency looks, from outside, like opinions about prices. From the desk it is something else: a ledger anyone can inspect and no one can quietly edit, a secret number that is the only authority to move money, a transfer that cannot be taken back, a fee auction for scarce space in the next block, an issuer standing behind some coins and nothing standing behind others.
This course teaches the mechanics end to end. What a unit actually is — an entry on a shared ledger, not a coin in a phone — who can move it and how, how a transfer travels and settles, what the supply rules and the fees really say, what an exchange balance really is, and what stands behind a stablecoin's dollar.
Then it teaches the judgment. How to send and receive without an irreversible error, how custody is designed for real amounts and real lives, where yield is actually paid from, how the standard frauds are built and refused by arithmetic, and how digital rails compare with the bank wire on a real invoice — a $24,000 supplier bill priced in full on both rails.
It works in two movements. First, Module 1 — The Money Itself: Ledger, Keys, Agreement, and Price of Use — work through Concepts 1–9, finishing with The First Payment, Designed; then, Module 2 — Using and Judging: Custody, Contracts, Fraud, and the Written Policy — work through Concepts 10–18, finishing with The Proposals Ruled.
Both capstones produce real artifacts — a digital-money handling sheet for a firm's first payment, designed line by line before a single unit moves; and a ruling sheet with a standing written policy, six real-shaped proposals ruled on their mechanics, their payers, and their worst cases in currency.
The honesty discipline is part of the course. No return promise anywhere in it: no coin is recommended, no strategy is presented as a system that wins, and every price in the course is a stipulated teaching figure you can recompute yourself — an arithmetic input, never a market quotation. Fast-moving facts are framed verify-current.
The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.
Cryptocurrency & Blockchain: How Digital Money Actually Works is part of The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person learning Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

Diagnose → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone
Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.
Diagnose
The Coach starts where the course starts: with what you actually bring. You never hold a coin — you hold a position in a system, and the system decides what that position is worth when something fails. Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand, and your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.
Learn & Practice
Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.
Prove
Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.
Capstone
Finish with two capstones — The First Payment, Designed for Module 1 and The Proposals Ruled for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.
What You'll Learn
Name what you hold before anything moves. Every holding stated by its entry, its key, its counterparty, and its worst case — never by its app screen.
Module 1 builds the money. The ledger and the key, the transfer and the agreement behind it, supply and fees priced from their own rules, the exchange claim and the stablecoin's backing, and the loss arithmetic no holder escapes.
Module 2 builds the judgment. The send discipline, custody designed for the amount and the life, contracts and yield read by their powers and their payers, fraud refused by arithmetic, records the law expects, and rails compared per invoice in dollars.
And it leaves you a policy. A written ruling sheet and standing policy for digital money — the instrument that rules the next pitch before it charms you.
What you will learn
- Read the money itself: what a unit is, who can move it, how a transfer settles, and how a network of strangers agrees on the record
- Price the machinery: supply rules stated without prophecy, fees and gas computed from first principles, and confirmation matched to the value at risk
- Name what you hold: an exchange balance as a claim on a company, a stablecoin as a claim on an issuer, a token as a contract entry — each with its failure case in currency
- Move and keep money safely: the send discipline, custody designed for the amount and the life it must survive, and records that satisfy the authorities who will ask
- Judge every proposal: yield traced to its payer, fraud refused by arithmetic, business rails compared on a real invoice, and a written policy that rules the next pitch before it charms you

Built for people who must rule on digital money
Finance staff and bookkeepers — whose employer is being asked to pay, accept, or hold digital money, and who need the mechanics before the first transfer, not after the first mistake.
Owners and managers of small and mid-sized firms — weighing supplier payments, customer checkout options, or a slice of company cash in a new form, and wanting the ruling in numbers.
Holders in their first years, and anyone who has been pitched — who own some cryptocurrency, often on an exchange, or have been offered a coin, a token, or a guaranteed return, and want to know what they actually hold and the arithmetical tools to test the claim before any money moves. The course assumes ordinary arithmetic, shown with its working, and no prior knowledge of the technology.

Before you enroll
What is a Socratic coaching session?
A conversation, not a video. Your coach asks a question; you answer — out loud by voice, or by typing — and the coach responds to what you said: naming the misconception it hears, affirming what you got right, and asking the next question. You advance only when you have mastered each concept, so a finished course means the learning held.
How long does it take — and how long do I have?
About 30 minutes per concept. Learn in sittings of any length; your progress is saved as you go. You have a full year from purchase to finish, and you can revisit and retake within that year.
What does the certificate verify?
That you completed every concept and both capstones of this course. Anyone can confirm a Cognosco certificate online — enter its certificate ID on our verification page.
What if it isn't for me — what are the refunds?
If you have not started, cancel for a full refund within seven days of purchase. Once you have started, there is no cash refund — stop before finishing and we credit the full amount you paid toward any other course in the library (credit valid one year from your original purchase). Once you complete the course, no refund or credit applies.
