Executive Presence
Signature Course No. 55 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.
A New Kind of Learning
Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.
Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.
The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.
The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.
A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing
The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Executive Presence course, in the Leadership & Management category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.
This is the course for senior managers, executives, high- potential leaders, and founders facing rooms that matter. It works in the order the work has to happen: first, Module 1 — Gravitas: The Substance People Read as Presence — work through , finishing with The Pressure Moment; then, Module 2 — Voice and Craft: Speaking, Writing, and Showing Up Like an Executive — work through , finishing with The Executive Briefing. You finish by proving the whole course — in The Pressure Moment and in The Executive Briefing. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free. The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.
The fence, stated plainly. Presence is substance read by others — composure, candour, and command of the material — not performance tricks, not image consulting, and not a promise that presence substitutes for competence; substance, clearly carried, gets heard. The signature is the course's own: this course works on a real upcoming moment from your own calendar. One rule protects that signature, and it is absolute: do not share anything you are not free to share: change the names, change the figures, keep the shape of the problem. Both capstones produce real artifacts — a pressure moment handled in the room and an executive briefing that carries — not just ideas about presence.
This is the fifty-fifth course in The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person training Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.
Name the Moment
The Coach starts by examining a real upcoming moment from your own calendar — the room, the audience, the stakes, and how you are currently read — as it stands. Presence is not added on top of the work. It is the work, as other people receive it. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.
Learn & Practice
Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.
Prove
Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.
Capstone
Finish with two capstones — The Pressure Moment for Module 1 and The Executive Briefing for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.
What You'll Learn
Most leaders do not lose rooms on knowledge. They lose them in the thirty seconds before they start speaking, in the answer that runs three minutes past its point, in the fact they knew and hedged anyway, in the meeting they attended without ever quite arriving, and in the document that contained the decision somewhere on page four. This course teaches executive presence as a discipline of carrying substance: building the gravitas that comes from composure, candour, and a genuine command of your material; controlling the signals you can control — how you enter, how you look, how you listen, how you read a room and adjust without dissolving; speaking and writing with executive economy, in person and on a screen; and holding your standard in the hardest rooms — hostile questions, bad news, and rooms full of people senior to you. The course works on a real upcoming moment from your own calendar throughout: bring one moment that matters, anonymized, and leave prepared for it.
What you will learn
- Build gravitas — composure, candour, and decisiveness grounded in command of your material
- Control the signals you send — arrival, appearance, listening, and reading the room
- Speak and write with executive economy and authority, in person and in virtual rooms
- Handle the hardest rooms — hostile questions, bad news, senior audiences — and keep a personal presence standard

Built for leaders whose rooms have outgrown their habits
Executive Presence is for senior managers — whose work is sound and whose rooms have grown larger than their habits: bigger audiences, shorter attention, higher stakes per sentence, executives — who are read as the organisation while they speak, whether they chose that or not, and who need their presence to match the weight their words already carry, high-potential leaders — identified for larger roles, whose substance is ahead of how they are currently read, and who have been told, in some form, to work on their presence without ever being told what that means in practice, and founders facing rooms that matter — investors, boards, customers, and partners who will judge the whole enterprise, fairly or not, partly by the person standing in front of them.
The fence and the signature apply here, too. Presence is substance read by others, not performance tricks or image consulting, and it never substitutes for competence — and the course works on a real upcoming moment from your own calendar: bring the moment, and do not share anything you are not free to share: change the names, change the figures, keep the shape of the problem. You are read whether you manage it or not; the course assumes a room that matters is already on your calendar.
