Generative AI Workflows: Beyond the Prompt

Signature Course No. 155 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.

An agentic, mastery-based AI learning platform.

A New Kind of Learning

Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.

Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.

The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.

The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.

Meet The Lighthouse Coach

A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing

The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Generative AI Workflows: Beyond the Prompt course, in the AI at Work category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.

This is the course for professionals who already use AI weekly — who can write a decent prompt and now need the results to be consistent, checkable, and safe to send — for team leads and operations managers whose team's AI use is still a collection of private tricks, and for consultants, analysts, and client-facing staff whose AI-assisted drafts reach clients.

It works on one running example — a weekly client status report, rebuilt step by step across the whole course: first, Module 1 — From One Prompt to a Working Chain — work through Concepts 1–9, finishing with The Friday Report, Rebuilt as a Workflow; then, Module 2 — Making It Reliable, Shared, and Better — work through Concepts 10–18, finishing with The Workflow Pack a Colleague Can Run.

You finish by proving the whole course — in The Friday Report, Rebuilt as a Workflow and in The Workflow Pack a Colleague Can Run. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free. Explaining why a gate sits where it sits, or why a step was cut, is a spoken act — done live, to a coach who can answer back.

The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.

Every workflow in this course is run and reviewed by a person. Steps may draft, extract, sort, summarise, and check — a named human owns each stage's output, passes each gate, and signs the final product.

Both capstones produce real artifacts — a complete, gated workflow design for a weekly client report, and a documented, measured workflow pack for a monthly client review — written to be run on the real job, by a colleague, not just filed in the course.

This is the one hundred and fifty-fifth course in The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person learning Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

The Method

Diagnose → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.

1

Diagnose

The Coach starts where the course starts: with the unit itself. A prompt answers once. A workflow works every week. Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand, and your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.

2

Learn & Practice

Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.

3

Prove

Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.

4

Capstone

Finish with two capstones — The Friday Report, Rebuilt as a Workflow for Module 1 and The Workflow Pack a Colleague Can Run for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.

The Course Content

What You'll Learn

A prompt is a single ask. A workflow is a piece of work, organised. Most professional AI use fails not at the prompt but at everything around it: the job was never broken into steps, so one giant ask tried to do six jobs at once; nothing was checked, so a confident error travelled straight into a client document; nothing was written down, so the one person who knew how the trick worked went on holiday and the trick went with them.

This course teaches you to build the organised version. You will learn to decompose a weekly job into steps each with one clear task, sequence those steps with explicit inputs and outputs, build templates with controlled variables, and carry exactly the right context from step to step.

Place human review gates where errors are expensive, pilot a workflow safely, read AI output like an editor, and handle failure without panic or silent guessing.

Then you will make it durable: quality checks built in before anything is generated, a method for tightening a slow or sloppy chain, version control for workflows, a run sheet a colleague can follow, honest rules for sensitive material, honest measurement of what a workflow actually saves, a path from one desk to a whole team, an audit method for chains you did not build, and finally the practitioner's standard — what it means to sign work that AI helped produce.

What you will learn

  • Turn a recurring job into a workflow of sequenced AI steps with explicit inputs, outputs, and handoffs
  • Build templates with controlled variables so a workflow repeats to the same standard every run
  • Place human review gates and built-in quality checks where errors are expensive
  • Pilot, measure, tighten, and version a workflow without breaking what already works
  • Document a workflow in a run sheet a colleague can run without you in the room
  • Handle sensitive material, failures, and scaling honestly — and sign AI-assisted work to a stated standard

Who It's For

Built for the professional whose prompts work and whose results still vary

Generative AI Workflows: Beyond the Prompt is for professionals who already use AI weekly and need the results to be consistent, checkable, and safe to send, team leads and operations managers who need shared, documented, reviewable workflows instead of private tricks, and consultants, analysts, and client-facing staff whose AI-assisted drafts reach clients, with gates and checks between generation and sending.

This is an AI at Work course. It assumes you can already write a clear single prompt, and that you have recurring weekly work you want to run better. It assumes no programming and no particular AI tool.
