Google Workspace & Gemini at Work

Signature Course No. 164 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.

An agentic, mastery-based AI learning platform.

A New Kind of Learning

Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.

Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.

The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.

The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.

Meet The Lighthouse Coach

A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing

The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Google Workspace & Gemini at Work course, in the AI at Work category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.

This is the course for office staff and administrators who produce the documents, decks, and messages an organization actually runs on, managers and team leads whose reports, client packets, and project decks must be readable, current, and right, professionals moving into a Google Workspace workplace who need the durable moves rather than a tour of every button, and small-business owners and operators who are their own IT department. It works on one running company — Aster & Anvil, a design-build studio with 24 staff and 9 active projects — whose monthly client packet, change-order letters, and Monday inbox you will come to know in full.

First, Module 1 — The Suite Crafts: Documents, Decks, and the Working Day — work through Concepts 1–9, finishing with The Client Packet; then, Module 2 — One Copy, Clean Hand-Offs, and the Assistant — work through Concepts 10–18, finishing with The Kickoff Campaign. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free.

The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.

Most office work does not fail at the hard parts. It fails at the ordinary ones. The tools are not the problem — Google Workspace is capable, mature, and, used with a few durable disciplines, genuinely fast, and the assistant inside it is genuinely useful when it is directed and checked.

This course teaches the disciplines. Choose the app by the job. Build structure before appearance. Make the deck argue and the mail ask. Keep one canonical file, fit the sharing to the job, brief the assistant well, check its output, and check the current state of the tool and the file before you trust a remembered path.

Both capstones produce real artifacts — a complete monthly client packet, report, deck, and courier mail built whole, and an AI-assisted kickoff campaign workflow of canonical files, deliberate sharing, meetings, and assistant-drafted material checked to the standard — not just ideas about office work.

This is the one hundred and sixty-fourth course in The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person learning Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

The Method

Diagnose → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.

1

Diagnose

The Coach starts where the course starts: with your own files. Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand — what you already do well in the suite, and where the common trap is waiting for you — and your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.

2

Learn & Practice

Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.

3

Prove

Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.

4

Capstone

Finish with two capstones — The Client Packet for Module 1 and The Kickoff Campaign for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.

The Course Content

What You'll Learn

Most office work in a Google shop does not fail at the hard parts. It fails at the ordinary ones: a proposal nobody can navigate because its headings are just large text, a deck that stores the presenter's notes instead of making the client's decision, an inbox run as an archive, a calendar run as a suggestion, a shared drive containing nine copies of the same budget with nine different totals, and — newest of all — an AI draft pasted into a client message with its invented details still inside it.

The tools are not the problem. Google Workspace is capable, mature, and — used with a few durable disciplines — genuinely fast, and the assistant inside it is genuinely useful when it is directed and checked.

The problem is that most people were never taught the disciplines; they were handed the apps and left to improvise, and improvisation, repeated daily by a whole team, becomes chaos with good software.

This course teaches the disciplines. Module 1 builds the crafts: the structured document, the argumentative deck, and mail and calendar handled as commitments, on a foundation of choosing the right app for each job.

Module 2 builds the connective tissue and the AI craft: one canonical file instead of competing copies, permissions chosen on purpose, clean hand-offs between apps, a meeting cycle that produces decisions instead of echoes, and then the assistant itself — how to ask it well, how to check what it returns, how to use it for summary and rework without surrendering judgment, and the standard you apply before anything leaves your hands.

One small company — Aster & Anvil, a design-build studio with 24 staff and 9 active projects — runs through the whole book, because office discipline is not an abstraction: it is what happens to the monthly client packet, the change-order letter, and the Monday inbox, every week, on a deadline.

What you will learn

  • Choose the right app for the job, and structure documents with real headings and styles
  • Build documents that survive editing, and hand them off cleanly
  • Build slide decks that carry an argument, with visuals that prove instead of decorate
  • Write mail that gets answered, and run an inbox and calendar as systems, not archives
  • Share files without version chaos — one canonical copy, deliberate permissions
  • Work across the apps cleanly, run meetings that produce decisions, and reuse work on purpose
  • Work with the Gemini assistant well: ask for drafts, summaries, and rework — and check every output before it is relied on

Who It's For

Built for the people the office runs on

Google Workspace & Gemini at Work is for office staff and administrators who produce the documents, decks, and messages an organization actually runs on, managers and team leads whose reports, client packets, and project decks must be readable, current, and right, professionals moving into a Google Workspace workplace who need the durable moves rather than a tour of every button,

and small-business owners and operators who are their own IT department and need file, sharing, review, and AI-use practices that survive staff changes.

This course assumes you can open the apps, type, and save or find a file. It assumes no prior instruction in styles, deck design, inbox systems, or working with an AI assistant. The rest is built here, concept by concept, on one company you will come to know very well.
