PowerPoint Mastery: Slides That Land

Signature Course No. 220 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.

An agentic, mastery-based AI learning platform.

A New Kind of Learning

Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.

Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.

The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.

The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.

Meet The Lighthouse Coach

A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing

The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's PowerPoint Mastery: Slides That Land course, in the Personal Effectiveness & Well-Being category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.

Foundations make a deck clean. Mastery makes a deck decisive. This course is for presenters whose slides already look respectable and still lose rooms: the board deck that is tidy and forgettable, the funder deck that covers everything and asks for nothing, the executive update in which every chart is polished and no chart is honest.

You architect the argument first. One decision and a load-bearing spine, removal-tested and grant-tested; pyramid order with the answer first; an opening whose first three slides earn the rest; evidence sequenced in the order doubt arrives; and the ghost deck — a headline chain that must argue by itself with the slides removed.

Then you hold the evidence honest. Data-ink discipline that strips every mark carrying no data, axes whose visual impression is the impression the numbers justify, comparison without legend-hunting or memory work, and printed figures whose precision, rounding, and denominators claim no more than the evidence supports.

Then you run the deck as a system. Builds choreographed as reasoning steps, spoken deck, notes, and leave-behind derived from one governed source, template architecture and library governance a whole team can reuse without drift, accessibility held to a checkable standard, live structures for interruption and equipment failure, compression to five slides and to one without losing the spine, and the professional deck autopsy.

It works in two movements. First, Module 1 — The Argument in the Deck: Narrative Architecture and Honest Evidence — work through Concepts 1–9, finishing with The Decision-Deck Blueprint; then, Module 2 — The Deck as a System: Build, Governance, and the Live Room — work through Concepts 10–18, finishing with The Presentation Package and System Pack.

Both capstones produce real artifacts — The Decision-Deck Blueprint, the complete architectural specification for Windrow Analytics' northern-valley federation deck, defended in writing in advance; and The Presentation Package and System Pack, the governed artefacts, architecture, and live structures that let a team of four run that argument quarterly, in rotation, without its author in the room.

The honesty discipline is part of the course. This course is the mastery build on the foundations of slide design and assumes them. No invented percentages about audiences, attention, or retention are printed anywhere; every specimen deck is described in words, with its figures printed in full, and every worked figure is the running company's own, shown with its arithmetic.

The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.

The Method

Diagnose → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.

1

Diagnose

The Coach starts where the course starts: with what you actually bring. Every mastery deck exists to move one decision — by named deciders, by a named date — and the spine is that decision written in five lines, with the few claims that carry it. Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand, and your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.

2

Learn & Practice

Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.

3

Prove

Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.

4

Capstone

Finish with two capstones — The Decision-Deck Blueprint for Module 1 and The Presentation Package and System Pack for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.

The Course Content

What You'll Learn

A spine, not a container. One decision, few load-bearing claims — and everything that carries no load assigned to backup, the leave-behind, or the bin, so the room argues about the decision, not about the deck.

Module 1 builds the argument and its honest evidence. Pyramid order, openings that earn attention, evidence sequenced in doubt order, the ghost-deck test, data-ink discipline, honest axes, comparison without memory work, and numbers printed to standard.

Module 2 builds the system around the argument. Build choreography, three artefacts from one source, template architecture and governance, accessibility at standard, and delivery-integrated design for the room that actually happens.

And it closes with the standard itself. Compression that keeps the spine at five slides and at one, the autopsy that names the governing failure first, and the seven certifications your signature makes about any file that leaves your hands.

What you will learn

  • Architect a deck around one decision and a load-bearing spine — and cut everything that carries no load
  • Order claims and evidence so the argument compounds — answer first, proof sequenced in the order doubt arrives, and a headline chain that argues by itself
  • Apply data-ink discipline, honest axes, direct comparison, and denominator honesty to evidence slides
  • Run the deck as a system: builds as reasoning steps, three artefacts from one source, governed templates, accessibility at standard, compression without losing the spine, and the professional autopsy

Who It's For

Built for people whose decks must decide

Senior managers and executives — whose decks go to boards, funders, and decision meetings where the file is forwarded, re-read cold, and judged as a proxy for judgment itself.

Deal leads and owners — who raise money, win mandates, and defend recommendations with decks that must ask clearly and prove completely.

Analysts, consultants, specialists, and team leads who own shared decks — whose evidence slides carry the decision, and who maintain templates, libraries, and recurring board or customer decks that many hands touch and no one person can keep honest alone. The course assumes the foundations of slide design or equivalent working craft: you can already build a clean slide, write an assertion headline, and run a basic review.
