Social Media Marketing for Business

Signature Course No. 117 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.

An agentic, mastery-based AI learning platform.

A New Kind of Learning

Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.

Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.

The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.

The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.

Meet The Lighthouse Coach

A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing

The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Social Media Marketing for Business course, in the Sales, Service & Revenue category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.

You work the whole course against real business evidence — your buyers' own words, your own counts, your own records: the Coach teaches and questions, you decide, write, and plan, and what you produce is what gets checked.

This is the course for owners of small and mid-sized businesses who run the social accounts themselves, marketers and communications staff who post daily and report monthly, service businesses, retailers, clinics, firms, and makers whose buyers check the feed before they call, and teams where doing social was assigned, not designed.

It works in the order the discipline demands: first, Module 1 — Strategy and Content: What Social Is For, and What to Say — work through Concepts 1–9, finishing with The Thirty-Day Working Plan; then, Module 2 — Growth, Money, and Trust: Spend, Measure, Govern, Endure — work through Concepts 10–18, finishing with The Quarterly Social Plan.

You finish by proving the whole course — in The Thirty-Day Working Plan and in The Quarterly Social Plan. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free. The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.

This course teaches strategy and judgment that survive platform changes, not platform tricks: platforms are named only as kinds of channel, never as the lesson, and every move is taught so it survives an app changing its name.

The book prints no folklore engagement statistics — where those numbers usually go, it puts the learner's own evidence: your counts, from your accounts, over your weeks, reconciled against your sales, your bookings, and your inbox. Follower counts are not the goal — business outcomes are: inquiries answered, appointments booked, orders placed, repeat buyers retained, problems resolved in public where trust is built.

Both capstones produce real artifacts — a thirty-day working plan your business can pin up and run, and a quarterly social plan with a budget that answers for itself — not just ideas about posting.

This is the one hundred and seventeenth course in The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person learning Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

The Method

Diagnose → Learn & Practice → Prove → Capstone

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.

1

Diagnose

The Coach starts where the course starts: with the job, not the post. A feed full of posts is not a strategy — a strategy is a short list of business jobs, done on purpose, in public, week after week — and if the jobs are not named first, every post gets graded on applause. Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand, and your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the strategy you only think you have.

2

Learn & Practice

Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.

3

Prove

Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.

4

Capstone

Finish with two capstones — The Thirty-Day Working Plan for Module 1 and The Quarterly Social Plan for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.

The Course Content

What You'll Learn

Social media is where your buyers already spend their attention — and where most businesses waste theirs, posting whatever comes to hand, chasing applause that never reaches the till, and calling the activity marketing.

This course teaches social media as a business discipline.

You will learn to decide what social is actually for in your business and what it is not for; to choose channels by where your audience truly is, not by fashion; to build content from your offer and your customer's real problem; to run pillars and a calendar instead of a daily scramble; to write for the feed with hooks, clarity, and proof; to handle visuals and short video with judgment; to treat comments, messages, and reviews as customer service done in public; to listen before you post;

and to know what organic work and paid work are each for.

Then you will learn to spend money that must answer for itself, to work with creators and partners without renting trouble, to invite employee advocacy without coercion, to measure business outcomes instead of vanity, to test content without fooling yourself, to govern who may post and in what voice, to survive the bad day when a screenshot travels, to deal accessibly and plainly with everyone, and to review the whole effort quarterly and plan the next quarter on evidence. Strategy first, platform second — that order is the course.

What you will learn

  • Build a social strategy tied to business outcomes — audience, channels, offer, and pillars — instead of posting by habit
  • Create feed content that earns attention honestly: hooks, clarity, proof, visuals, and short video judged before they are produced
  • Run community and listening as service: comments, messages, and reviews answered like the business depends on them, because it does
  • Spend, measure, and govern with discipline: paid work that answers for its budget, honest measurement and testing, clear approvals and voice, crisis readiness, accessibility, and a quarterly review that plans the next quarter

Who It's For

Built for the person the accounts landed on

Social Media Marketing for Business is for owners of small and mid-sized businesses who run the social accounts themselves — or hand them to whoever has an hour — marketers and communications staff who post daily, report monthly, and need a defensible line from activity to outcome, service businesses, retailers, clinics, firms, and makers whose buyers check the feed before they call and read the reviews before they book, and teams where several people post in several voices, nobody owns the calendar,

and the first real crisis will be handled by improvisation unless a better plan arrives first.

This course assumes you run, or will run, social accounts for a real business with real buyers, in the Sales, Service & Revenue category. It assumes no marketing degree, no agency, and no particular platform: if you have an offer people pay for and customers you can name, you have everything this course requires.
