Strategic Thinking
Signature Course No. 45 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.
A New Kind of Learning
Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.
Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.
The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.
The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.
A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing
The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Strategic Thinking course, in the Business Development category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.
This is the course for owners and executives who set direction and discover their plan is a list of goals nobody chose between, team leads and managers who must translate, refuse, and sequence inside a larger strategy, capable operators whose weeks are full and whose honest answer to where this is going has become we will see, and anyone about to make a large, hard-to-reverse choice. It works in the order the work has to happen: first, Module 1 — Seeing the Whole Board: Where to Compete, How to Win, What It Costs — state the choice plainly, name what you will not do, map the whole board before you move, find the customer's real problem under the request, audit the advantage for its mechanism and its expiry, read two clocks on every large decision, walk the second-order chain, sort signals from noise, and build scenarios across the load-bearing uncertainties, finishing with The One-Page Strategy; then, Module 2 — Making It Real: Resources, Signals, and the Discipline of Revision — read resources as the strategy and realign them by whole moves, sequence priorities so they survive contact, choose measures that would tell you bad news, audit capability and capacity honestly, size bets by the cost of being wrong, align people by translation and honest instruments rather than slogans, protect the strategy conversation, keep the scheduled honest look, and revise on evidence without drifting, finishing with The Review That Changes Something. You finish by proving the whole course — in The One-Page Strategy and in The Review That Changes Something. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies, hands-free. The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.
The signature, stated plainly. This course works on your actual strategy. Most strategy courses teach about strategy and leave your plan exactly as they found it. This one does not: bring a real choice — a market you are considering entering, a priority fight you keep losing, a plan you inherited and never actually chose — anonymized where it needs to be, and the Coach will make you choose it again, concept by concept, until the choice is plain enough to act on and honest enough to review. One rule protects that signature, and it is absolute: do not paste anything you are not free to share: change the names, change the figures, keep the shape of the problem. Both capstones produce real artifacts — a one-page strategy and a review record with a revised page — not just ideas about direction. The course also makes no claims it cannot keep: it names no studies, prints no market statistics, and promises no growth figures, success rates, or returns, and no real company is presented anywhere in it as a teaching case — every worked example uses a clearly fictional company, invented for this course.
This is the forty-fifth course in The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person training Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.
See the Board
The Coach starts by examining the strategy you actually run — where you really compete, what your resources really say, and where the choosing has been left unmade, as they stand. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.
Learn & Practice
Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.
Prove
Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.
Capstone
Finish with two capstones — The One-Page Strategy for Module 1 and The Review That Changes Something for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.
What You'll Learn
Most teams do not lack plans — they lack a chosen strategy, stated plainly enough to guide a Tuesday decision. This course teaches strategic thinking at the level where direction is actually set. You will learn to state where you will compete and how you will win in plain words, and to name the trade-offs that make a strategy real, including what you will not do. You will learn to see the whole board: the customer's real problem, the system your move lands in, and the consequences that arrive after the first result. You will learn to read signals without chasing noise, to think in more than one time horizon at once, and to prepare for more than one future instead of betting on a single prediction. Then you will make the strategy real: resources allocated as the strategy made visible, priorities sequenced so they survive contact with the calendar, measures that tell the truth about whether the direction is working, and a review rhythm that revises the course on evidence instead of letting it drift. The course works on your actual strategy throughout: bring a real strategic choice, anonymized, and leave with it chosen, stated, and ready to be reviewed.

Built for everyone who sets direction
Strategic Thinking is for owners and executives who set direction for an organization; team leads and managers who set direction for a team inside a larger strategy and must translate, refuse, and sequence with the resources they actually have; capable operators who feel the drift, whose weeks are full and whose work is good; and anyone about to make a large, hard-to-reverse choice who wants the choosing done on purpose before the money is spent: state the strategy plainly, see the whole board, make strategy real, and review and revise on evidence.
The signature applies here, too. This course works on your actual strategy: bring real choices, anonymized — do not paste anything you are not free to share: change the names, change the figures, keep the shape of the problem — and leave with them chosen, stated, and ready to be reviewed. The course assumes you have real work and real constraints; it does not assume anyone ever taught you to choose.
