Time Management Mastery: Beyond the Basics
Signature Course No. 200 — A Signature AI Socratic Coaching Course.
A New Kind of Learning
Socratic coaching, delivered by an agentic AI coach.
Not a course you watch. An AI coach you work with.
The Lighthouse Coach begins by discovering how you think about the subject, teaches what is missing, and gives you realistic practice before asking you to prove that you can use it. You may test out of concepts you already understand, while capstones turn the learning into a practical plan, decision, conversation, or other real-world result.
The curriculum is deliberately authored; the AI delivers it through coaching. It is not an AI randomly generating lessons.
A coach that teaches by asking — not by lecturing
The Lighthouse Coach is an AI Socratic coach built on Cognosco Learning's Time Management Mastery: Beyond the Basics course, in the Personal Effectiveness & Well-Being category. It does not play videos at you. It holds a conversation: it asks you a question, listens to your answer, names the misconception it hears, affirms what you got right, and asks the next question — the way a great coach works in the room.
The basics answer a small question: what should I do next? This course answers the larger ones that arrive once the basics are reflexes. What should this role's week look like in the first place? Which of these genuinely urgent things is actually first, and what does choosing it cost the others? What does this recurring meeting consume in a year, and would anyone buy it at that price? When must work leave your hands so it comes back finished instead of frantic? And when the honest answer is no — to a new request, or to a promise already made — how do you say it so the relationship is stronger afterwards than before?
One person, one week, one set of figures. The course runs on Alina Bergstrom, operations director at a forty-two-person studio, whose whole week is stated once, in full: all 168 hours, and her 50-hour working week inside it — meetings 22 hours, focused deep work 8, email, messages, and administration 9, planning and review 3, follow-up and coaching 4, unplanned and reactive work 4. Every later concept uses those same figures, so any number in the course can be traced back and checked with a pencil.
First, the audit and the architecture. Count the week that happened, not the week that was planned; give every hour exactly one category; count commitments, not just events — then design the week before other people fill it: anchors, blocks, and open capacity placed deliberately, deep work defended on published terms, every meeting priced in person-hours.
Then, the steering. Cut, shorten, or redesign the meetings the audit condemns; run daily and weekly reviews that end in decisions; set a follow-up cadence at the handoff; say no cleanly and renegotiate commitments while it is still cheap; design your own availability; re-plan a broken week without panic; and reset the role itself once a quarter, because a week well designed in January is a museum piece by June if nothing renews it.
It works in two movements. First, Module 1 — Architecture: Building a Week That Can Carry the Role — work through Concepts 1–9, finishing with The Week Rebuilt; then, Module 2 — Steering: Keeping the System Honest Week After Week — work through Concepts 10–18, finishing with The Quarter Steered.
Both capstones produce real artifacts — The Week Rebuilt, one professional's inherited week audited, priced, and rebuilt as a designed system whose proportions still sum to the same 50 working hours; and The Quarter Steered, a major new client absorbed inside that same week, its added hours funded entirely by meeting surgery whose every hour is shown.
The load assumption is stated in the open. This course assumes a load a person can actually carry — total commitments, honestly counted, that fit inside real capacity. The audit in Concept 1 tells the two situations apart; a load that does not fit belongs to a different conversation, and no calendar craft here is offered as a substitute for it.
The course is self-paced and always on — roughly 30 minutes per concept, about 9 hours in full, taken in as many sittings as you like. You can type your answers, or talk out loud: the Voice Coach speaks its questions and listens to your spoken replies. Learners who already know the material can test out concept by concept.
This is the two hundredth course in The Lighthouse Signature Series — the online counterpart to the one-day, in-person learning Cognosco Learning has delivered since 2002.

Every learner moves through the same discipline a Cognosco instructor would insist on in the room.
Diagnose
The Coach starts where the course starts: with a count, not a feeling. Most professionals who feel overwhelmed have never actually counted their week — they have felt it, vividly and daily, and feeling is a terrible accountant. Every concept opens with three questions that locate where you actually stand, and your answers shape how deeply the Coach works the concept with you. Everyone begins with Module 1 — no skipping the foundations you only think you have.
Learn & Practice
Work each concept in conversation with the Coach — spoken or written — then practice it against realistic situations until it holds up.
Prove
Every concept ends in proof: answer the check cold and demonstrate the skill. Know it already? Test out and take credit immediately.
Capstone
Finish with two capstones — The Week Rebuilt for Module 1 and The Quarter Steered for Module 2 — that pull the whole course together, and earn the certificate.
What You'll Learn
The week, counted honestly. Audit all 168 hours and the working week inside them, and judge whether the load is workable — workable and well-shaped, workable but badly shaped, or not workable at all, a verdict that belongs to a different conversation.
Module 1 builds the architecture. Proportions chosen in advance — anchors, blocks, and open capacity — ranking by consequence per hour when everything is genuinely urgent, three horizons run together, work placed on an energy curve, depth defended on published terms, and buffers placed where uncertainty actually lives.
Module 2 keeps it honest. Meeting surgery on the priced portfolio, reviews that steer instead of tidy, a follow-up cadence set at the handoff, the clean no and the honest renegotiation policing the border of the week, availability designed rather than suffered, and a quarterly reset that renews the architecture itself.
And it stays inside its fences. The basics belong to the companion basics course and are assumed; habit design, focus technique, and the psychology of procrastination belong to neighboring courses — this course stays at the level of the week: hours, calendars, meetings, handoffs, and commitments.
What you will learn
- Audit a whole week — all 168 hours, and the working week inside it — and judge whether the load is workable and where it actually goes
- Design a calendar architecture for a role: anchors, blocks, and open capacity placed before other people fill the gaps
- Rank competing work when everything is genuinely urgent, and state what each ranking costs
- Plan across day, week, and quarter horizons so the long work is never crowded out by the loud work
- Schedule by energy as well as by clock, placing each kind of work where your capacity for it actually lives
- Protect deep-work capacity inside other people's calendars, with terms others can respect
- Cost meetings in person-hours, and cut, shorten, or redesign the ones that fail their price
- Delegate at the right time — early enough to help — and run a follow-up cadence that finishes work without chasing
- Build planned buffers, run steering reviews, say no cleanly, and renegotiate commitments without burning trust

Built for anyone whose week was designed by everyone else
Managers and team leads — whose calendars are written by other people's needs, and who must defend thinking time, delegation time, and review time inside a diary they only partly control.
Professionals carrying a full role — whose load is workable but whose week has accreted, meeting by meeting and favour by favour, into a shape nobody chose; and owners and practice leads, whose own calendars are the example the whole firm copies.
Graduates of the basics course — who have the lists, the simple priorities, and the blocks working, and are ready for the level where the calendar itself becomes the instrument. The course assumes a load that fits — tightly is fine — and does not assume authority over your whole diary, because most people must negotiate for their own week.
